Welcome to the ERC Proposal Reading Day
General guidelines:
On the Reading Day applicants will get the opportunity to read successful ERC grant proposals from the previous (H2020) and current framework programme (Horizon Europe).
The participants are expected to be familiar with the ERC grant schemes, as well as the conditions for participation listed here
This is a quiet individual reading session. It does not include tutorials about the ERC.
· The participants must sign the Declaration of Secrecy (see the next page).
· You have preselected up to two proposals. After reading these, subject to availability, it is possible to read copies of other applications. Please return the two preselected applications first!
· Taking photos of the applications is not allowed. However, you may take notes (on paper or on laptop).
· Proposals cannot be taken out of the reading room.
PLEASE NOTE: ERC has changed the proposal structure and evaluation starting from the Work Programme 2026 calls (StG 2026 onwards). The proposals available at the Reading Day represent the old proposal structure.
The main changes to the proposal structure are:
Ø Scientific Proposal Part I (B1) is still max 5 pages long, but Scientific Proposal Part II (B2) is max 7 pages long (previously max 14 pages).
Ø Feasibility of the scientific approach is no longer assessed at Step 1!
Please read carefully the latest Work Programme and the Information for applicants document!
